Oakville is a town of 180,000 on the shores of Lake Ontario. Situated in the middle of Ontario’s Golden Horseshoe. Oakville is linked by a dense transportation networks of highways, rail, shipping terminals and airports. Oakville is part of the Regional Municipality of Halton, which comprises the City of Burlington and the towns of Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills. The crime rate in Oakville has been falling in recent years, in keeping with national trends. The Town of Oakville is run from its Town Hall at 1225 Trafalgar Rd., and served by the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS), whose Headquarters is located at 1151 Bronte Rd. The HRPS polices Oakville from its detachment at 20 Division, located at 95 Oak Walk Drive, and two substations, on Kerr St. and Bronte St.
